Revlon Yellow Sunshine

I'm not a great fun of fancy colours when it comes to choosing my polishes, but I was tempted by Yellow Sunshine by Revlon and I'm glad I bought it. It's a pretty pastel yellow, a bit muted, not really too bright, with micro shimmers that aren't really very noticeable once applied. The formula wasn't easy to work with, pretty streaky and uneven after the first coat . Much better after the second coat, but you've got to have the perfect quantity of polish on your brush to cover the nail. The fewer the strokes, the better and smoother the application will be. The final result was very pretty and a real success that prompted lots of compliments (always welcomed!!).  A lovely colour for spring.

Revlon Midnight Affair

Hi girls! NOTD is a shimmering dark navy blue by Revlon, Midnight Affair. It's my first blue and I am very proud I picked it up as I am rather conventional (read boring) when it comes to choosing the colours of my polish. That's about to change as you'll soon see some yellow and green polishes in the coming posts! The formula on this was thin and opaque in one coat (pictures above), but out of habit I applied two coats (pictures below) and managed to make a bit of a mess....look at the close up! I tried my best but the formula was a bit loose and kept running into my cuticles. It did notice a bit of shrinkage after a few hours, so be sure to apply it well under the tips. Once it's dry, it has a semimatte finish which can be glammed up with a fancy glitter top coat (which I did and looked stunning!!).

Revlon Steel-her Heart

Buon affare!

The weather in London is totally unpredictable but the shopping is always totally rewarding. A stroll in the centre and I landed in one of those Poundland  stores where everything is a pound. You can find a bit of everything, from food to books and of course lots of cosmetics. While I was rummaging through, I managed to find some very nice Revlon polishes and since I couldn't decide between the two of them , I bought them both. Here I have swatched for you Steel-her heart, a beautiful dark pearl grey which has been so popular last winter thanks to the great success of Chanel Black Pearl. Shimmers and pearl polishes are not my favourite and the application can be quite tricky and streaky, but I did get beautiful results after two coats in total isolation and silence(I was scared to ruin it all any minute!!!). Nice and glossy, quick drying time. Pleased to say that the other polish I picked up, Black Star, is still sold in Boots at full price, £6.49. So total bonus!
